Flu season came earlier than expected in New Hampshire this year, with slightly more severe symptoms than in previous years. Cases remain high across the state and continue to rise, with Influenza A driving increased hospital visits and strain on medical facilities.

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Older Adult Volunteer Recognition Program from the NH State Commission on Aging. This annual award honors individuals or couples age 60+ whose volunteer service across advocacy, leadership, or direct service strengthens communities throughout the state.

Confronting Ageism in Healthcare 

 
New research published in BMC Geriatrics reveals how structural ageism, policy gaps, and systemic barriers continue to marginalize older adults in healthcare, leading to poorer outcomes and higher costs. The study calls for urgent reforms in policy, provider training, and care models to ensure older adults are seen, heard, and equitably served.
