A Decade-Long Investment to Promote Healthy Aging in New Hampshire

The Endowment for Health recently published a feature article looking back at the past 10 years of the NH Alliance for Healthy Aging and the growing statewide effort to make New Hampshire a great place to live as we age. The article highlights the people, partnerships, and community efforts shaping aging across the state—and the work still ahead.

NH Medicaid Eligibility Changes as of October 1

New federal requirements are changing Medicaid eligibility for specific noncitizen adults in New Hampshire, including some individuals receiving long-term care (LTC) and home and community-based services (HCBS). The NH Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has released new FAQs and a printable pocket card to help individuals, families, providers, and community organizations understand the changes and identify next steps.

Upcoming Partner Events

  • Navigating Together: SNAP Benefits, Funding Cuts and State Response
On October 14, the Tri State Learning Collaborative will host a free webinar looking at how changes to SNAP funding are shifting costs to states and what those changes could mean for program access, particularly for older adults. The discussion will explore how states are responding, the potential implications for older adults who are already underenrolled, and strategies states are considering as these changes take effect.
  • When Is It Time for More Care?
The Dartmouth Health Aging Resource Center is hosting a virtual workshop on October 20, to help caregivers understand when it may be time to consider additional support for a loved one. The session will cover the differences between home and residential care, forms and planning considerations, and a brief look at potential financial implications.
  • What Comes Next? Moving from Ageism Awareness to Action
The National Center to Reframe Aging is holding a webinar on October 15, exploring how awareness of ageism can become a catalyst for action. Colleagues who have applied the principles for reframing aging in their work will share how the principles have changed the way they recognize ageism, communicate about aging, and approach their practices. Plus, they’ll offer ideas for putting those lessons into action in organizations and communities.
