Welcome to this week’s “AHA Moments,” a weekly news flash regarding key events, happenings, articles, and other relevant information for our stakeholders.
A Helpful Resource for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Drivers
Did you know? The New Hampshire Department of Motor Vehicles offers a Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing Visor Card designed to make communication easier during a traffic stop. The card allows drivers to indicate how they prefer to communicate and provides law enforcement officers with guidance, including when an interpreter or other communication support may be needed.
NH Celebrates Community Transportation Month
October is Community Transportation Month in New Hampshire, celebrating the transit providers, drivers, volunteers, and riders who help connect Granite Staters to jobs, education, healthcare, and community life. Throughout the month, communities can participate in driver and rider appreciation activities, free transit days, and other events statewide.
Helping Older Adults Make Healthcare Decisions
Dartmouth Health has been selected as the rural anchor for the Advancing Ethical Goals in Society (AEGIS) study, a $44 million national research effort examining how older adults with serious illness make decisions about their medical care. The study will look at ways to better support older adults and their families as they navigate healthcare choices, with a focus on addressing the needs of people living in rural communities.

Find Resources to Make Your Home Safer
Home modifications can help people stay safe and independent at home, but finding reliable information and assistance can be difficult. The Home Modification Information Network (HMIN) is a free online resource where you can search by topic and location to find information about home modification programs, funding opportunities, and service providers in your area.
