AHA Moments – September 1, 2026
Welcome to this week’s “AHA Moments,” a weekly news flash regarding key events, happenings, articles, and other relevant information for our stakeholders.
Your Voice Can Help Shape a Healthier New Hampshire
New Hampshire residents selected at random may receive a call throughout the year to participate in the annual Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (NH BRFSS), a confidential 20 to 25-minute survey about health and well-being. Your responses help shape health programs and policies, from guiding physical activity and arthritis interventions to evaluating differences in access to care and health outcomes across rural and non-rural communities.
AARP Fall Internship
AARP New Hampshire is hiring for a Community Outreach and Communications Intern. The team creates and executes various events and projects to improve people’s lives as they age and help build a better tomorrow for future generations. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of Fall 2026 and will run through the end of the year, with the possibility of extending additional semesters.

The Movement to Reframe Aging
The National Center to Reframe Aging will present Summit 2026: The Movement to Reframe Aging on September 16, bringing together thought leaders, national experts, federal representatives, and leaders from across sectors to explore how we communicate, think, and act on aging. Building on more than a decade of research and the momentum of the inaugural 2024 Summit, the event will examine how communities and organizations can help advance healthier, more age-inclusive communities.
Alzheimer’s Blood Test
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared another blood test to help identify signs of Alzheimer’s disease in people 55 and older living with cognitive decline. The clearance comes as drugmakers and diagnostic companies race to develop simpler tests for Alzheimer’s to accelerate earlier diagnosis and treatment, which is important because disease-modifying treatments have the greatest impact at earlier stages.
