Welcome to this week’s “AHA Moments,” a weekly news flash regarding key events, happenings, articles, and other relevant information for our stakeholders.
Registration Open for Coffee and Caregiving Conversations
The NH Alliance for Healthy Aging’s Caregiving Workgroup will hold its next Coffee and Caregiving Conversation on Monday, November 9, rather than its usual Friday schedule. The meeting will be held in-person at the Foundation for Healthy Communities in Concord, with a virtual participation option available for those who may have difficulty attending in person during the colder months. Optional networking will follow from 10–10:30 AM.
Beware of Medicare “File Update” Scams
If someone calls claiming your Medicare file needs to be updated, hang up—Medicare will never call to verify your Medicare number or threaten to cancel your benefits if you don’t provide it. If you shared your Medicare number, don’t panic; report it to your local Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) for help with next steps.

Beyond the Bedside: Planning to Care
Pre-Dead Social Club is hosting two upcoming conversations about the relational, emotional, logistical, and practical aspects of planning for care on October 1 in Berwick, ME, and November 10 in Stratham, NH. The events are intended for current and future caregivers, care receivers, solo agers, and anyone interested in thinking ahead about their circle of support.

AI: What Is It and Where Is It Going?
The Littleton Area Senior Center will host an introductory conversation about artificial intelligence on Monday, October 5 at 1:00 PM. The session will explore how AI works, questions and concerns people may have, and what its future could look like.

HealthForce NH Giving Care Plan 2.0 Survey
HealthForce NH is seeking input from healthcare workers, community members, and the general public about the challenges and opportunities facing New Hampshire’s healthcare workforce—including burnout, turnover, and workforce retention. The survey is open through October 19.
Preparing for Colder Weather with an Energy Audit
As temperatures drop, weatherizing your home can help reduce heating costs by up to 30%. Community Action Partnership Belknap-Merrimack (CAPBM) offers energy audits and upgrades, including insulation and heating system repairs, for eligible households in Belknap and Merrimack counties. Residents outside these counties can contact their local community action program to ask about available weatherization assistance.
2026 World Alzheimer Report
Alzheimer’s Disease International’s 2026 World Alzheimer Report: A New Era in Dementia Clinical Trials is now available. The report highlights recent clinical trials and the important role that early diagnosis plays in helping individuals access emerging treatments, take part in research, and plan for future care needs.
