November is National Family Caregivers Month, a time to recognize the incredible commitment of family caregivers who provide support for loved ones in need. In New Hampshire and across the country, more than 53 million Americans serve as unpaid family caregivers, offering essential care, emotional strength, and stability to older adults and people with disabilities. Their efforts represent an estimated $470 billion in economic value, but their impact goes far beyond numbers.
At NHAHA, we’re proud to honor these everyday heroes. To help you join in the celebration, we’ve created a Social Media Toolkit you can use to raise awareness, share appreciation, and amplify the message that caregivers matter.

November is National Family Caregivers Month, a time to shine a light on the everyday heroes among us. Across New Hampshire, 281,000 family caregivers are making a difference each day. According to AARP, that number has grown significantly since 2023, and also includes an expanded definition of family caregiver to ensure we are recognizing all that fill this important role.
Caregivers drive to appointments, manage medications, cook meals, and provide comfort and companionship. Their quiet strength allows countless older adults and people with disabilities to remain at home. This month, and every month, we honor their care and compassion.

Post 3 – Who Are Caregivers?

Caregivers aren’t always who you might expect. In New Hampshire:
• 25% are under 35
• 40% are men
• 70% work full- or part-time
• 52% care for a parent
They are parents, partners, siblings, friends, and neighbors — all stepping in to support someone they love.

Post 4 – The Cost of Caregiving

Caregiving is rewarding, but it isn’t easy. On average, family caregivers spend over $7,200 a year out of pocket. Four in ten say the role is highly stressful. Many cut back hours at work or leave jobs altogether. Caregivers give so much. They deserve support in return.
Caregivers – we see you, and we thank you.
